UDP 9201
Synopsis
- UDP port 9201 is used by the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) 1.x for the WSP/WTP service between mobile handsets and a WAP gateway/proxy.
- Commercial WAP gateways such as Openwave UP.Link/Mobile Access Gateway, Nokia WAP Gateway, and Ericsson WAP Gateway listened on UDP 9201 for handset sessions.
- The open-source Kannel WAP gateway also supports WSP/WTP and can be configured to accept connections on UDP 9201.
- Mobile operators in the 2000s (e.g., Vodafone, AT&T/Cingular, T‑Mobile) provisioned devices like Nokia Series 40/60 phones, Sony Ericsson T610, and Motorola V-series to reach their WAP gateways via UDP 9201.
- Today, this port is mostly seen in legacy or decommissioned mobile network infrastructure.
