TCP 9081
Synopsis
- IBM WebSphere Application Server commonly uses TCP 9081 as an HTTP transport port for additional application server instances or cluster members (alongside 9080).
- Because of this, many IBM/HCL solutions deployed on WebSphere are often reachable on 9081, for example IBM Maximo Asset Management (e.g., http://host:9081/maximo in default-style installs).
- HCL Connections (formerly IBM Connections) is frequently documented running web applications on 9081 in typical WebSphere topologies with multiple servers.
- IBM Rational Team Concert/Jazz Team Server on WebSphere is also often accessed via ports 9080/9081 in real deployments and official setup guides.
- Security note: attackers commonly scan 9080/9081 for exposed IBM WebSphere endpoints and have exploited unpatched WebSphere or WebSphere-based applications via these ports.
