TCP 9080
Synopsis
- IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and IBM WebSphere Liberty use TCP 9080 as the default HTTP port for application servers.
- Products built on WAS/Liberty, such as IBM Maximo and IBM Business Process Manager, often expose their web UIs on http://host:9080 in default or development installs.
- IBM InfoSphere Information Server (DataStage) typically serves its web console on 9080 when using the bundled WebSphere.
- Apache APISIX (open-source API gateway) listens on 9080 by default for HTTP traffic (9443 for HTTPS).
- IBM Connections and IBM MobileFirst Platform Server, when deployed on WAS/Liberty, also default to 9080 for HTTP access.
- Due to these common defaults, attackers sometimes scan and exploit services on 9080, particularly targeting outdated IBM WebSphere/Liberty and Apache APISIX instances that have had public remote code execution and deserialization vulnerabilities.
