TCP 7003
Synopsis
- OpenAFS/IBM AFS Volume Location Server (afs3-vlserver) uses TCP port 7003 for volume location queries; this is the standard IANA-assigned service and is actively used in OpenAFS deployments.
- Real-world deployments include OpenAFS cells at universities and research institutions (e.g., Carnegie Mellon University and CERN), where vlserver listens on 7003/TCP.
- Oracle WebLogic Server commonly configures managed servers to listen on 7003/TCP in many example/default domains, carrying HTTP and/or T3 traffic depending on configuration.
- Because WebLogic is frequently targeted for remote code execution bugs, attackers often scan and exploit WebLogic services on their listening ports, including 7003 when it’s used.
