TCP 7004
Synopsis
- TCP port 7004 is assigned to AFS3-KASERVER, the Andrew File System (AFS) Authentication Server used in classic Transarc/IBM AFS and OpenAFS deployments.
- In real-world terms, legacy AFS cells (e.g., some university or enterprise OpenAFS environments) may still run the kaserver on 7004/TCP for Kerberos v4–style authentication over AFS’s RX RPC.
- Many modern AFS installations have migrated away from kaserver to standard Kerberos v5 (port 88), but existing legacy AFS servers can still expose 7004.
