TCP 10001
Synopsis
- Lantronix device servers (XPort, UDS1100/2100, EDS/ETS families) commonly listen on TCP port 10001 as “Connection 1” for raw or RFC2217 serial-over-TCP tunneling.
- Example: connecting to tcp/10001 on a Lantronix UDS1100 or an embedded Lantronix XPort provides a pass-through to the device’s RS‑232/422/485 port; additional serial channels often map to 10002, 10003, etc.
- Pro-face (Digital Electronics Corp.) HMIs use TCP 10001 for the GP-Pro EX Transfer Tool to upload/download projects to GP/AGP/GP4xxx panels.
- Many industrial products that embed Lantronix modules (e.g., legacy serial-to-IP adapters inside PLC gateways, meters, or access-control panels) therefore expose their data interface on tcp/10001.
- Security note: tcp/10001 on Lantronix-based gear is often targeted in ICS environments because an open service can grant unauthenticated access to downstream serial equipment.
