Synopsis

  • Ubiquiti Networks devices (UniFi APs, airMAX/UISP gear, etc.) run the Ubiquiti Discovery service on UDP port 10001 for local controller/device discovery.
  • This discovery service on UDP/10001 has been abused for reflection/amplification DDoS and has had info‑disclosure issues (e.g., CVE-2019-13074), so exposing it to the internet is risky.
  • Asterisk-based VoIP systems (including FreePBX) use UDP ports 10000–20000 for RTP media by default, meaning UDP/10001 commonly carries audio/video streams.
  • Lantronix serial device servers (e.g., XPort, UDS, SLC families) use port 10001 for their serial-over-IP data channel and can operate it over UDP when configured.
