TCP 10000
Synopsis
- Webmin uses TCP 10000 by default for its HTTPS admin interface (also used by Virtualmin installations), e.g., https://server:10000 on many Linux servers.
- NDMP (Network Data Management Protocol) uses TCP 10000 and is standard for NAS/backup operations.
- NDMP servers on this port include NetApp ONTAP filers, Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale, Dell EMC Data Domain, Synology NAS, and QNAP NAS.
- Backup software that communicates via NDMP on 10000 includes Veritas Backup Exec, Veritas NetBackup, IBM Spectrum Protect (Tivoli), Veeam (NDMP plug-in), and Commvault.
- HPE Data Protector also uses TCP 10000 for NDMP-based backups to/from supported NAS devices.
- Security note: TCP 10000 is commonly targeted when exposed because of Webmin’s history of critical vulnerabilities (e.g., past RCE like CVE-2019-15107) and credential attacks; restrict access and keep it updated.
