UDP 5065

ProtocolUDP
Port5065
LabelsEPICS Channel Access repeater beacon

Synopsis

  • UDP port 5065 is officially assigned to the EPICS Channel Access protocol (IANA service name: ca-2).
  • In EPICS-based control systems (used at CERN’s LHC, SLAC, APS at Argonne, Diamond Light Source, ITER, and many university labs), the CA “caRepeater” service uses UDP 5065 to multiplex and deliver Channel Access beacons and search responses to multiple client applications on a host.
  • EPICS software stacks—including EPICS Base IOCs/clients, Control System Studio (CSS), and National Instruments’ EPICS server—rely on UDP 5065 alongside the companion CA ports (notably 5064).
  • This port is routinely allowed within laboratory and industrial control networks to support EPICS device discovery and status signaling.
