TCP 2083
Synopsis
- cPanel & WHM: The cPanel user interface over HTTPS (service cpsrvd-ssl) listens on TCP port 2083 by default; many hosting providers (e.g., HostGator, Bluehost, GoDaddy) expose https://yourdomain:2083 for cPanel login.
- RadSec (RADIUS over TLS): Implementations like FreeRADIUS with radsecproxy and Radiator commonly use TCP 2083; this is widely deployed in eduroam federations and ISP roaming infrastructures for secure RADIUS transport.
- Security note: Because 2083 often reveals a cPanel login, it is heavily scanned and targeted for credential‑stuffing and exploitation of cPanel web‑UI vulnerabilities; administrators often rate‑limit, geo‑restrict, or put this port behind a reverse proxy or VPN.
