TCP 2082
Synopsis
- cPanel (the web hosting control panel by cPanel, LLC) uses TCP port 2082 for its account interface over plain HTTP; the HTTPS equivalent is on 2083.
- Many shared hosting providers historically exposed http://yourdomain.com:2082 for cPanel access (e.g., HostGator, Bluehost), though most now redirect to 2083/HTTPS.
- Port 2082 is frequently targeted for hacking: attackers scan for exposed cPanel logins on 2082 and attempt brute-force or credential‑stuffing attacks, and phishing kits often mimic the cPanel login on this port.
