TCP 943
Synopsis
- OpenVPN Access Server uses TCP port 943 by default for its web services, including the Admin Web UI (/admin) and the Client Web UI where OpenVPN Connect downloads profiles and autologin bundles.
- This default applies to OpenVPN Access Server deployments across platforms such as the official OpenVPN Access Server AMIs on AWS, marketplace images on Azure and GCP, and the official Docker image (openvpn/openvpn-as).
- In many setups, port 443 is reverse-proxied to the same web service, but 943 typically remains the native management port unless reconfigured.
- Some NAS and appliance builds that bundle OpenVPN Access Server also expose the UI on 943 unless the admin changes it.
- Security note: Because 943 commonly hosts the OpenVPN AS admin portal, it is frequently scanned and brute-forced by attackers; admins often restrict access, enable MFA, or place the interface behind a VPN or allowlist.
