TCP 9142
Synopsis
- Apache Cassandra uses TCP port 9142 for the CQL native transport over SSL/TLS (native_transport_port_ssl), i.e., when client encryption is enabled.
- DataStax Enterprise (DSE) and ScyllaDB, which are Cassandra-compatible, also listen on 9142 for encrypted client connections by default.
- Managed Cassandra services commonly use this port as well; for example, Amazon Keyspaces requires TLS connections on port 9142.
- Command-line tools and drivers (e.g., cqlsh with --ssl, DataStax Java Driver) connect to 9142 for secure CQL traffic.
- These are legitimate database uses; there is no specific, widely noted hacking tool or exploitation uniquely tied to port 9142.
