TCP 9030
Synopsis
- TCP 9030 is commonly used by Tor (The Onion Router) as the DirPort.
- Tor relays and directory mirrors listen on 9030 to serve directory data (consensus, server descriptors, microdescriptors) via an HTTP-based directory protocol.
- Real-world example: running the tor daemon with “DirPort 9030” in torrc makes the relay serve endpoints like /tor/status-vote/current/consensus on port 9030, which Tor clients use during bootstrap.
- Many public Tor relays (and some directory authorities/mirrors, though some also use 80 or 443) expose this service on 9030.
