SAS Object Spawner (SAS 9.x) commonly listens on TCP port 8581 by default.
It’s part of the SAS Intelligence Platform and launches SAS Workspace Server, Pooled Workspace Server, and Stored Process Server sessions.
Clients such as SAS Enterprise Guide and the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office connect via 8581 to obtain server sessions.
In many default SAS 9.4 deployments on Windows or Linux, the Object Spawner service (sasspawner) binds to 0.0.0.0:8581 unless reconfigured.
