UDP 8211
Synopsis
- Aruba Networks uses UDP port 8211 for its proprietary PAPI protocol, which handles management/control traffic between Aruba Access Points and Aruba Mobility Controllers (ArubaOS 6.x/8.x), including discovery, configuration, and firmware tasks.
- Real-world example: an Aruba AP-3xx or AP-5xx associates to an Aruba Mobility Controller over PAPI on UDP/8211 during provisioning and control.
- Aruba’s AirWave Management Platform also uses UDP/8211 for AMON telemetry sent from Aruba Mobility Controllers to AirWave for monitoring and reporting.
- You’ll see UDP/8211 open on Aruba Mobility Controllers, Virtual Mobility Controllers, and AirWave servers in production Aruba WLAN deployments.
