TCP 8001
Synopsis
- Kong Gateway uses TCP 8001 for its Admin API by default; when exposed to the internet, attackers often exploit misconfigured or unauthenticated Admin APIs to create routes or enable plugins, sometimes leading to SSRF or code execution.
- SHOUTcast DNAS (internet radio server) traditionally uses 8000 for public streaming and 8001 for the source/DJ connection and admin functions in the classic v1 setup.
- Samsung Smart TVs (2016+ Tizen models) provide a WebSocket remote-control interface on port 8001 (with 8002 for SSL), used by integrations such as Home Assistant.
- SAP NetWeaver Application Server’s ICM HTTP service maps to 8000 + instance number, so instance 01 commonly listens on TCP 8001.
