TCP 7000
Synopsis
- Apple AirPlay (v1) uses TCP 7000 for RTSP-based AirPlay connections; Apple TV, AirPort Express, HomePod, and many smart TVs/receivers listen on port 7000 for AirPlay.
- OpenAFS/AFS (Andrew File System) uses TCP 7000 for the afs3-fileserver service; OpenAFS servers at universities and enterprises commonly have the fileserver daemon listening on 7000 (often alongside UDP).
- Many IRC servers use TCP 7000 as a client connection port; popular daemons like UnrealIRCd and InspIRCd ship configs that listen on 7000 in addition to 6667/6697, and numerous public IRC networks expose it.
- Security note: IRC-based botnets historically use common IRC ports (including 7000) for command-and-control, so 7000 is frequently probed and sometimes abused by attackers.
