UDP 5632

ProtocolUDP
Port5632
LabelspcANYWHEREstat Symantec pcAnywhere (version 7.52 and later)

Synopsis

  • UDP port 5632 is assigned by IANA to Symantec pcAnywhere (service name: pcANYWHEREstat).
  • pcAnywhere uses 5632/UDP for host discovery/status broadcasts and initial negotiation; the data channel typically runs on TCP 5631.
  • Real-world deployments included pcAnywhere hosts on Windows desktops/servers in many enterprises (e.g., legacy Windows XP/7 and Server 2003/2008 systems) where clients locate hosts via 5632/UDP.
  • Security note: This port has been a frequent target because pcAnywhere had serious vulnerabilities (including issues disclosed after a 2012 source-code leak), enabling host enumeration, credential attacks, and remote compromise when exposed to the internet.
  • Today it’s mostly encountered in legacy environments; modern remote-access tools generally do not use 5632/UDP.
