TCP 5433
Synopsis
- Vertica Analytic Database uses TCP port 5433 by default for client connections (e.g., vsql, JDBC/ODBC).
- YugabyteDB’s YSQL (PostgreSQL-compatible) service listens on TCP 5433 by default.
- PostgreSQL frequently appears on 5433 as an alternate port when 5432 is in use; for example, Debian/Ubuntu’s postgresql-common assigns 5433 to a second cluster by default, and some installers switch to 5433 automatically if 5432 is occupied.
- Pyrrho DBMS (IANA service name “pyrrho”) uses TCP 5433.
- Because databases often run here, attackers sometimes scan port 5433 to find exposed PostgreSQL-compatible services (e.g., Vertica/Yugabyte/PostgreSQL on alternate ports) for brute-force or data theft.
