UDP 5005
Synopsis
- UDP port 5005 is the IANA-registered port for RTCP (Real-time Transport Control Protocol), the control channel paired with RTP.
- VLC Media Player’s RTP/RTSP streaming uses RTP on 5004 and RTCP on 5005 by default (configurable via --rtp-port).
- FFmpeg and GStreamer RTP pipelines commonly use 5004/5005 for RTP/RTCP in their documented examples and real deployments.
- Live555-based software (e.g., Live555 testProgs and the legacy Darwin/QuickTime Streaming Server) uses 5004/5005 for RTP/RTCP in sample configurations.
- Wowza Streaming Engine is frequently configured to deliver UDP RTP on 5004 with RTCP on 5005 for monitoring/control.
- Many IP cameras and NVRs (e.g., Axis, Hikvision, Dahua/ONVIF devices) use UDP RTP/RTCP on 5004/5005 for multicast streams as shown in vendor documentation and defaults.
