TCP 5001
Synopsis
- Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) uses TCP 5001 as the default HTTPS management port (e.g., https://your-nas:5001).
- Iperf (iperf2) uses TCP 5001 by default for its server/listener when running network throughput tests (iperf -s).
- Slingbox devices used TCP 5001 for streaming connections from the SlingPlayer, and Sling Media’s documentation recommended forwarding TCP 5001 for remote access.
- Attackers commonly scan TCP 5001 for exposed Synology DSM interfaces; DSM on 5001 has been targeted by brute-force and ransomware campaigns (e.g., SynoLocker).
