UDP 4011
Synopsis
- UDP 4011 is used by the PXE ProxyDHCP/BINL service in network boot environments.
- Microsoft Windows Deployment Services (WDS) and the older Remote Installation Services (RIS) run the BINL/ProxyDHCP component on UDP 4011 to provide PXE boot server and filename information.
- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) PXE-enabled Distribution Points rely on WDS and therefore use UDP 4011 for PXE client negotiation.
- The FOG Project imaging server includes a ProxyDHCP service that listens on UDP 4011 to supply PXE options to clients.
- dnsmasq, when configured for PXE ProxyDHCP mode, responds to PXE discovery on UDP 4011 while leaving standard DHCP on ports 67/68.
- Serva (Windows PXE/TFTP/HTTP server) uses a ProxyDHCP component on UDP 4011 for PXE boot discovery and option delivery.
- Symantec/Altiris Deployment Solution (Altiris PXE Manager) provides a ProxyDHCP service that communicates with PXE clients on UDP 4011.
