TCP 4002
Synopsis
- Industrial serial device servers often use TCP 4002 for the second serial port’s raw TCP service.
- Moxa NPort device servers (e.g., NPort 5000/6000 series) map 4001 to Serial Port 1 and 4002 to Serial Port 2 in TCP Server mode to tunnel RS‑232/422/485 data (such as Modbus RTU) over IP.
- Advantech EKI serial device servers (e.g., EKI‑1521/1522/1622 series) use the same convention, with 4002 as the default TCP port for COM2.
- These are common in OT/SCADA environments to provide Ethernet access to legacy serial devices.
