TCP 32400
Synopsis
- Port 32400/TCP is the default port used by Plex Media Server for its HTTP API and web app.
- Real-world examples include Plex Media Server on Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as NAS packages for Synology, QNAP, and Netgear ReadyNAS that listen on 32400.
- Nvidia Shield TV’s built-in Plex server and Docker/Unraid Plex containers also expose 32400 for access to http://server:32400/web and for client connections.
- Plex clients on Roku, Apple TV, Android/iOS, and the Sonos Plex service connect to servers on TCP 32400; Plex Remote Access commonly forwards this port on home routers (often via UPnP).
- Security: This port is frequently scanned because publicly exposed Plex servers have been targeted for exploitation and brute-force; multiple historical Plex vulnerabilities enabled compromise when unpatched.
