UDP 2427
Synopsis
- UDP port 2427 is used by the Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP); media gateways listen on this port for commands from a Call Agent.
- Real-world examples include Cisco IOS voice gateways (e.g., Cisco 2800/2900/3900 routers, VG224/VG350), Cisco ATA 186/188, and AudioCodes MediaPack analog gateways when configured for MGCP—all listen on UDP 2427.
- Nortel/Avaya gateways operating in MGCP mode also use UDP 2427 for control.
- In cable VoIP, PacketCable’s NCS (an MGCP profile) uses UDP 2427 on embedded MTAs in cable modems (e.g., Arris/CommScope TM/TG series, Motorola/Surfboard eMTAs) to receive control from the Call Management Server.
- Asterisk (via chan_mgcp) interoperates with MGCP endpoints that listen on UDP 2427, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) sends MGCP commands to gateways on UDP 2427 while listening on 2727 for notifications.
